In the heart of the 7th arrondissement, just minutes away from Les Invalides, EIB Grenelle private school opened its doors in September 2021. Welcoming students from nursery up to Year 6 (Maternelle to CM2) to begin with, the bilingual school will follow the programmes of the Ministry of National Education while offering a fully bilingual teaching programme, with 50% of classes in English and 50% in French.

Nursery Bilingual School EIB Grenelle

Nursery school – known in French as maternelle, comprises the first three years of schooling: Nursery Class, Reception Class, and Year 1.

Bilingual learning

At EIB Grenelle, bilingual learning begins right at beginning in Nursery. Classes are taught on an alternating basis, meaning one day in English, one day in French.

All concepts in the curriculum are taught in both languages. The goal is for students to acquire a strong foundation in both languages.

One assistant per class assists the teacher and accompanies the students.

During their time in nursery school, our pupils will be working on the following learning objectives:

Nursery school: a time for learning social constructs and language development.

 

Lessons are organized into 5 learning areas:

  • Mobilize language in all its aspects.
  • React, express oneself, understand through physical activity.
  • React, express oneself, understand through artistic activities.
  • Acquire initial mathematical skills.
  • Explore the world.

Kindergarten students are taught to read in English using the Jolly Phonics method.
