Primary School

EIB de la Jonchère Primary School welcomes students aged 6-11 and follows the French national curriculum.

A fully bilingual experience

Classes are split between French and English, with an equal time between the two languages. To achieve this ambitious project, primary school pupils attend and extra three hours of classes per week compared to a traditional State school or a State-contracted school.

Using technology – responsibly

Students today are digital natives, surrounded by technology. To supervise and encourage students to apply critical thinking towards these new technologies, we have chosen to integrate them into our teaching approach from primary school onwards. Technology is always used under the careful, expert observation of a teacher and for strictly educational purposes – not recreational.

All EIB de La Jonchère classrooms are equipped with interactive whiteboards that are used by our teachers and students. This enables us to use dynamic learning techniques through, for example, songs and videos or educational games, and allows us to monitor students’ progress through online assessment tools.

iPads are available to our students from CP (Year 2), to carry out individual tasks such as research, or for reading exercises followed by reading on a dedicated educational application. Use of technology is always in class with support and supervision from teachers.

Years 2 & 3 also enjoy swimming lessons in our own dedicated learning pool.
