EIB Schools Honoured with the 2025 Eco-Schools Awards

EIB Schools Honoured with the 2025 Eco-Schools Awards

This year, all three EIB schools participating in the Eco-Schools programme were recognised for their commitment to sustainable development. EIB Grenelle, EIB de la Jonchère and EIB Lamartine were all awarded the Eco-Schools Label 2025—an international programme encouraging schools to place sustainability and environmental awareness at the heart of everyday life and learning.

EIB Grenelle and EIB de la Jonchère received the Silver Award, while EIB Lamartine earned a Bronze Award for its first year of participation. These distinctions recognise the commitment of students, teachers, and the wider school communities to meaningful and impactful projects.

A Label That Brings Meaning to Learning

Obtaining the Eco-Schools label goes beyond following a fixed programme—it’s about living and learning through sustainability every day. For students, it means becoming agents of change, understanding today’s environmental challenges, and discovering their power to make a difference. For schools, it is a powerful educational and civic tool that fosters teamwork, sparks creativity, and develops a sense of initiative.

The projects carried out help students collaborate, conduct research, and take real-world action—while building transversal skills in languages, arts, science, and citizenship.

Spotlight on the Award-Winning EIB Schools

EIB Grenelle (Silver Distinction)

At EIB Grenelle, environmental commitment also takes on a strong humanitarian focus. The school organised a large collection drive for Les Bébés du Cœur, gathering more than 1,640 essential items for families in need: clothes, diapers, hygiene products, milk, baby food, and more. A generous, hands-on action that brings the school community together each year.

The school also spearheaded the multilingual and eco-conscious book series “One Action, One Book,” launched in 2022 and supported by Globeducate in partnership with Gulf Stream Éditeur. This year, CE1 students published their third title, “A Match for Everyone,” written in French, English, and Chinese. The book explores gender equality through an inclusive and inspiring story, tied to the programme’s solidarity theme.

This unique project combines language learning, artistic expression, and civic engagement. It allows students to share their ideas, actively contribute to illustrations, and spread a powerful message. The series continues to inspire across the wider Globeducate network.

EIB de la Jonchère (Silver Distinction)

At EIB de la Jonchère, sustainability is a daily experience. During Eco Week, students engaged in a wide range of activities: recycling workshops, planting sessions, educational games, and awareness-raising around daily habits. A highlight of the week: the “12 Minutes, Zero Waste” challenge—a full-campus clean-up led by all middle school students. In just 12 minutes, the entire site was spotless—a striking demonstration of collective impact.

The school also took part in the One Action, One Book series. This year, students published their second book, “Saving the Forest,” written in French, English, and Spanish. Through the adventures of Jack & Lucy, the book explores deforestation and the importance of paper recycling.

This project allowed students to develop language skills, unleash their artistic creativity, and gain awareness of environmental issues—perfectly aligned with the goals of the Eco-Schools programme.

EIB Lamartine (Bronze Distinction)

EIB Lamartine received its first-ever distinction and joined the One Action, One Book initiative last year. In 2024, CP students wrote and illustrated “Stop! The Planet Is Not a Trash Can!” in French, English, and Spanish, raising awareness about waste management. This project gave even the youngest pupils the opportunity to share their ideas on protecting the planet, while discovering the richness of languages and the value of teamwork.

A Commitment That Builds the Future

These initiatives prove that education for sustainable development isn’t just theoretical—it’s brought to life through action-based projects that empower students and build their confidence to make change. By recognising and celebrating their efforts, the Eco-Schools label boosts motivation and encourages responsibility from an early age.

We warmly congratulate all students, teaching teams and families for their involvement. It is thanks to their ideas, energy, and willingness to act that our schools continue to proudly fly the Eco-Schools green flag.
