Career Day 2026 at EIB de la Jonchère

Career Day 2026 at EIB de la Jonchère

On Saturday, January 24, a highly anticipated event took place at EIB de la Jonchère: the second edition of the Career Day. Following last year’s success, and having seen how energising the experience was for our students, our school community made every effort to organise the event once more.

A committed international community

Within our school, we place great importance on valuing our community — not only our students and staff, but also the families with whom we share important moments throughout the year. Thanks to the international outlook of our school, our community brings together individuals from diverse professional, cultural, and geographical backgrounds. This diversity fosters a learning environment where openness, excellence, and mutual respect form the foundation of our educational vision.

Supporting students towards the professional world

We believe it is essential to guide each student in defining their career aspirations to ease the transition to high school and beyond. At EIB de la Jonchère, we strive to make this process a meaningful step conducive to sharing experiences, active listening, and discussion. The Parents’ Association (APEIB) plays a key role in this process: during the Career Day, volunteer parents share their experiences and present the core aspects of their professions, offering students a concrete and inspiring view of possible career paths.

For this edition, 18 parents presented their professions and shared insights from a wide range of fields, including law (lawyer, court clerk), aviation, human resources, corporate finance and investment banking, as well as the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries. Students also explored careers related to science and innovation, such as geology, renewable energy, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence, in addition to healthcare professions, with contributions from an emergency doctor, a veterinarian, a speech therapist, and a psychologist.

Open to students from Year 6 to Year 10, the event brought together highly engaged and enthusiastic participants. They stood out for their motivation, thoughtful questions, and maturity, impressing many of the parent speakers with the quality of their discussions.

Discovering the professional world from every angle

The Career Day enables students to deepen their understanding of the professional skills required across various fields. Through discussions with speakers, they learn about academic pathways, technical competencies, the realities of daily professional life, as well as the specific demands and responsibilities of each sector.

Beyond professional knowledge, students are also made aware of essential soft skills needed to succeed and thrive in the workplace: communication, teamwork, adaptability, relationship management, and maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

This comprehensive approach provides students with a concrete, realistic, and well-rounded understanding of careers, helping them build their academic and professional plans thoughtfully and confidently.

Explore, confirm, get inspired

The forum plays a particularly important role for Year 9 and Year 10 students, supporting them in their reflection on career orientation. For Year 9 students, it also represents a first opportunity to begin building a professional network and to prepare for their Year 10 work placement search. This experience allows them to further develop their interests, discover new professional perspectives, refine or adjust their plans, and open themselves to new possibilities.

“This second edition was a great success, and we look forward to organising another forum next year.”
