Collège EIB Monceau is proud to announce that one of its students, Adam Farneti, a 5e (Grade 7) pupil, won a gold medal at the Jiu-Jitsu World Championships in Abu Dhabi on 8 November. Adam competed in the Boys GI / Junior / Grey / 60 kg category, a tremendous achievement for this young 12-year-old athlete.
Throughout the competition, Adam demonstrated perseverance, discipline and excellence, racking up four impressive victories. He won his first three bouts by submission, before going on to win a hard-fought final by a score of 4-3, demonstrating impressive tactical mastery.
Since his arrival at EIB Monceau in CM1 (Grade 4), Adam has successfully combined his bilingual education with his passion for jiu-jitsu. This success is the reward for many hours of training, but also for the balance he has managed to find between his studies and his athletic career. His journey is an inspiration for our EIB community, proving that it is possible to excel in sport while doing brilliantly at school.
Congratulations to Adam on this remarkable victory, and we wish him continued success in future competitions as he pursues his exemplary academic career.
Brazilian jiu-jitsu is a martial art that focuses on grappling and ground fighting. It is renowned for its technical strategy, which involves using your opponent's strength against them, and for its approach to submission. The sport requires a combination of strength, flexibility, speed and mental alertness.
