On the 2nd of February, EIB de la Jonchère enjoyed an exceptional day when taking part in the "Globeducate Reads" event. This initiative encouraged the school to deviate from its usual timetable to immerse itself entirely in the pleasure of reading. Through this international 'readathon', the school recorded messages of celebration and encouragement for its partner school in the Globeducate network.
EIB de la Jonchère had a fantastic opportunity to connect its students with peers from around the world who share a passion for reading and education. This unique experience strengthened the links between the schools in the Globeducate network, demonstrating the power of literature to bring together diverse educational communities.
One of the highlights of the day was the workshop on Shakespeare in which students from the middle school took part. This workshop allowed young minds to immerse themselves in the captivating world of the famous playwright, enriching their understanding of classic literature.
In a spirit of cross-grade inclusion, CM1 pupils took on the task of reading to Grande Section pupils. The CE1s took over the library, enthusiastically taking part in the reading marathon. The CPs and CM2s immersed themselves in sharing stories, while the CM1s had the privilege of reading to the Moyenne Section pupils.
These inter-class activities not only strengthened the pupils' reading skills, but also fostered an educational environment where collaboration and exchange were the order of the day. Teachers stressed the importance of such initiatives in the holistic development of pupils, encouraging both reading and the sharing of ideas.
The 'Globeducate Reads' event at EIB de la Jonchère was much more than a simple reading marathon. It was a vibrant celebration of literature, intercultural learning and educational collaboration on a global scale.A day that will remain engraved in the students' memories as a moment when books transcended borders to unite curious minds from all over the world.
The day ended with the Jonchère school symbolically passing the baton to the Coruña British International School in Spain, having received this responsibility from the Canadian School of Florence. This ongoing exchange between schools in the Globeducate network strengthens international links and offers students a unique global perspective.
