Ranking of Bilingual Middle Schools and High Schools: Lycée EIB Étoile and Collège EIB Monceau in the Spotlight

Ranking of Bilingual Middle Schools and High Schools: Lycée EIB Étoile and Collège EIB Monceau in the Spotlight

Le Figaro, an established French newspaper, recently unveiled its list of the best collèges (middle schools) and lycées (high schools) offering bilingual education in France, with two of our Paris schools standing out: Lycée EIB Étoile and Collège EIB Monceau. They examined 118 lycées and 163 collèges offering at least one international section. These schools stand out for their commitment to promoting cultural and linguistic openness among teenagers.

A Tremendous Achievement for our Schools

The Collège EIB Monceau and the Lycée EIB Étoile, both subcontracted school, proudly stand out in this ranking of bilingual schools. Indeed, the Collège EIB Monceau has climbed to an impressive 5th place in the general ranking of collèges, while the Lycée EIB Étoile shines in 4th place among lycées. Focusing on private schools, Collège EIB Monceau stands out by taking first place in its category, while Lycée EIB Étoile takes a well-deserved third place. These results illustrate their unwavering commitment to educational excellence and their ability to offer their students an environment conducive to high-level bilingual education.

A Plethora of Language Possibilities

Bilingual or international classes are an undeniable success with pupils and their parents, and this phenomenon is widely highlighted by the article in Le Figaro. This craze is based on a fundamental observation: learning foreign languages at an early age gives children the opportunity to acquire fluency in the language more easily. This is one of the major strengths of our EIB schools, and our educational programmes are specifically designed to encourage language learning from an early age. The Figaro ranking also favours schools with a wide variety of international sections.

Excellence in Results

Among the top-ranked schools in the Figaro ranking, it is above all their exam results that stand out. Collège EIB Monceau stands out with an impressive success rate of 100% in the Brevet des Collèges in 2023, including 89.4% with "mentions très bien" (honours). Similarly, the Lycée EIB Étoile has a 100% success rate in the 2023 baccalauréat, including 45% "mentions très bien". These outstanding results demonstrate our schools' ongoing commitment to educational excellence and student success, showing that our students are successfully prepared for exams and further study.

The International Baccalaureate: an Asset for the Future

Since the start of the 2023 academic year, the Lycée EIB Étoile has been preparing students for the International Baccalaureate (IB). This experience is invaluable for students wishing to continue their studies abroad. The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) enables our students to enter the most prestigious universities. This new offer is in addition to the programmes already offered by the school: the British section of the International French Baccalaureate (BFI) and the European Baccalaureate.

Different Motivations for Students and their Families

Pupils and their families have a variety of reasons for choosing an international section. Some bi-national families want their children to maintain a strong link with their cultural origins, while others feel that this bilingual training facilitates integration into French society. On the other hand, more and more foreign families are coming to France to work, and they see these international programmes as a unique opportunity for their children to be immersed in a different education system. For pupils, a bilingual secondary education is a significant asset for their future university and professional careers.

Ranking Methodology

Le Figaro has compiled its ranking by selecting schools from official lists published in the Journal Officiel de la République Française. The ranking criteria include the number of international sections, the success rate for the diplôme national du brevet and the baccalauréat, and the average mark for the written part of the diplôme national du brevet and the baccalauréat. Bonuses have also been awarded to schools with international sections that are less common in France.

The Figaro ranking highlight schools that stand out for their commitment to bilingual education and cultural openness. At EIB, we offer students a unique opportunity to develop their linguistic and cultural skills, while preparing for their academic and professional future in an increasingly connected world.
