What we teach at EIB bilingual nursery schools
At EIB Paris private nursery schools, bilingual lessons begin from the age of three, when pupils play and learn in English and French. Teaching is organised into five areas of learning:
- Using language in all its forms.
- Acting, expressing oneself and understanding through physical activity.
- Acting, expressing oneself and understanding through artistic activities.
- Acquiring basic mathematical skills
- Exploring the world.
In addition to language learning, pupils work on the following educational objectives, as defined in the French national curriculum:
Nursery (Petite Section):
- Socialisation
- Learning to live together
- Understanding and following basic instructions in both languages
Reception (Moyenne Section):
- Writing one’s first name in capital letters
- Dressing oneself
- Draw a person
- Concentrate on a task
Year 1 (Grande Section):
- Understand and follow some basic instructions
- Writing in cursive, being able to write and recognise one’s first name
- Matching sounds and letters
