EIB de la Jonchère

EIB Trocadéro bilingual primary school

EIB Trocadéro bilingual primary school, located in Paris’s 16th arrondissement, welcomes children aged 6 to 11, from CE1 (Year 2) to CM2 (Year 6). Our teaching method is based on a dual-language system: each day is divided into two halves, with one half-day in French and one half-day in English. This regular routine enables pupils to make steady progress in both languages.Pupils have lessons from 9.00am to 4.45pm, and from 9.00am to 12.00pm on Wednesdays. The school is open from 8.30am until 5.45pm. Extracurricular activities are organised during the lunch break. On Wednesday afternoons, these activities are open to pupils whether or not they attend EIB Trocadéro.

Educational objectives of the primary school

Cycle 2: the cycle of fundamental learning – CP-CE2 (Years 2-4)

CP
In CP, children learn to read using the syllabic method and to write in cursive in French, whilst continuing their English lessons. They study the maths curriculum using the Singapore Method.

CE1
In CE1, pupils at our bilingual primary school consolidate their language skills through in-depth study of the French language and mastery of reading in English.

  • Reading fluently in both languages
  • Working independently or in groups
  • Progressing in their mastery of the four arithmetic operations and problem-solving
  • Developing their curiosity in early learning subjects

CE2
In CE2, pupils deepen their understanding of texts and strengthen their problem-solving skills:

  • Understand short texts and answer questions
  • Improving their command of written French and English
  • Solving maths problems independently
  • Respecting others’ ideas and learning to cooperate
  • In this year, our pupils can begin to study a third language (optional): Mandarin, the most widely spoken language in the world, and discover Chinese culture.

Cycle 3: the consolidation phase – CM1 and CM2 (Years 5 and 6)

In Cycle 3, pupils deepen their knowledge across all subjects: perfect command of written language (French and English spelling and grammar), and practice in written expression in both languages. High academic standards in mathematics: mental arithmetic and solving complex problems. They build a broad general knowledge in history, geography and art history. Pupils develop their scientific mindset in science and technology.

At EIB Trocadéro, we also place emphasis on preparing pupils for their transition to middle school by developing their study skills, independence, personal organisation, and public speaking skills.
